As discussed previously, WebDoubler supports a robust plug-in architecture that simplifies management of the server and makes extending WebDoubler possible. A number of plug-ins are included in the basic WebDoubler package that enable basic and advanced proxy services. Each of the basic plug-ins (except the Web Admin Plug-In) has a number of configurable options that can be set in two ways.
First, the WebDoubler application provides a traditional Macintosh graphical user interface for configuring most options. Within the WebDoubler application, each plug-in can be configured by choosing the plug-in name from the "Plug-Ins" menu. See the following chapters for specific details about the configuration options available within each plug-in.
In addition, plug-ins can also be configured remotely using a Web administration interface. Any Web browser configured to use WebDoubler as a proxy server can be used to manage plug-in settings. The browser does not have to be running on the WebDoubler Macintosh; any configured browser on the LAN or Internet can be used.
To access the WebDoubler remote Web administration interface, follow these steps:
To use the remote Web administration interface, the Web Admin plug-in must be installed in the WebDoubler Plug-ins folder. If the Web Admin plug-in is not in the Plug-Ins folder, none of the other plug-ins can be configured remotely.
Also note that the Web Admin plug-in does not have any configuration options and requires no setup, so it is not included in the "Plug-Ins" menu in the WebDoubler application or in the menu of configurable plug-ins on the main Web administration page.
